9/11/2010 - World Music & Dance - Bosnian Blues |
Enjoy world music at the Village Green on summer Monday evenings 6:30pm
SATURDAY, Sept 11th:
Bosnian Blues will perform at Vashon High School at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.
The four Sarajevo natives who make up the band fled the war-torn Bosnia and Herzegovina in the mid-1990s and later reunited in Seattle. The quartet now plays the country’s traditional music: sevdah, or Bosnian blues, mixing complex rhythms, rich melodies and poetic text to create emotive and danceable music.
The performance is the last of six free world music concerts that have taken place this summer, sponsored by the Vashon Folkdancers and Vashon Park District. Everyone is invited — dancers and listeners alike. No experience is necessary to participate in the dancing, and instruction will be provided.

Each year Windermere provides full Thanksgiving meals with all the trimmings to Island families in need, and you can help!
We will be collecting donations at Thriftway Sunday November 23rd
or you can drop donations at our office through Monday November 24th.
We will be putting meals together for 14 Island families this year!
Some ideas for donations:
Canned goods, Veggies, Gravy, Rolls, Pie, Whipped Cream, Potatoes, Eggs, Fruit, Children's Treats or Cash donations.

Join the parade at 11:30am at VIGA/Farmer's Market and proceed to Ober Park as the egg hunt begins at Noon sharp!!
there will be activities at the park beginning 10:30am. Decorate an egg (bring one from home), enjoy a fairy craft area, make a bonnet and guess how many jelly beans are in the jelly bean jar.
The Garage Boys will provde music.

Wine lovers are in for a treat at the Strawberry festival!
Join us Saturday July 17th from 2:30 to 7pm in Windermere's parking lot
for the new and improved Wine & Jazz Fusion with live music from the Zimburg Duo, great appetizers from Three Olive Catering and fantastic wines from over 10 wineries!
The cost is $25 to get in which includes 10 tickets to sample wine (tastes 1-2 tickets) or $15 for non-drinkers/designated drivers.
Anyone who comes in can buy the wines at a discount as well. |
